Reared from caterpillar found along Kent Ridge road.
Here is the caterpillar in its pre-pupae stage. It feeds on Simpoh Air (Dillenia suffruticosa), an abundant local shrub.

ID and Comment by Roger, " a tiger moth. the "stuff" underneath is it's cocoon, from which it has recently emerged."
Tiger moths are known for the aposematism or warning colouration. This moth can squirt out liquid (perhaps toxic or distasteful) that can possibly repel predators as Dr Lohman commented.
